The difference between web design and web development

Design: Website design is the visual aspect of the website, anything that is aesthetically relevant. It is also based on how the users interact with the design, so, the usability of the site, such as user experience (UX) and user interaction (UI).

Development: Website development is all about the functionality of the website, so this predominantly code related. There are two types of development 1.) Front end development is code languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. 2.) Backend development is coding languages such as Java, PHP, C# Python and more.

Now all the preparation is out of the way, it is time to get stuck into the build. Designing the site will always be based on the research carried out prior to the website build (This is why we believe in preparation, as it makes this stage far smoother). It is now simply a case of putting all the research and planning into action, obviously, adjustments may occur.

Copywriting

The final stage before the design and build begins, is to have all your copy written out in text format. This is categorically the most important part of any website, arguably any marketing project, and so much be dealt with care. There are a number of factors to bear in mind when it comes to copy for your website.

Firstly, it needs to be easily readable.

Secondly, it needs to be informative and structured in a chronological order as if to funnel readers into an isolated decision.

Thirdly, the content needs to be written for search engine optimisation (SEO).

User Testing

The completion of the site does not mean the work is all done, everything needs to be analyses to understand if everything we have implemented works correctly. User testing is primarily the best way to go about this, one to understand the functionality is all working correctly, and secondly, to identify if the user experience (UX) and user interaction (UI) is at a high level.

Reporting & Analysis

The final stage is to analyse the website, once launched, to then further understand how to optimise it for better conversion. After all, the website is your HQ of digital activities, so it needs to be well-designed, well developed and optimised to generate traffic – while converting business.
